Frequently Asked Questions


Weather Policies

We train outdoors.  Mother Nature can sometimes throw us some not-so-nice weather.  Make sure you check the weather forecast before coming to class and dress appropriately.  Keep in mind there will be a mixture of sitting still and actively training.  If there is a light drizzle we will continue to train.  If there is a heavy rainfall predicted or excessive wind, we will switch our class to a zoom class or add another week of classes.

Please check your email before coming to class in case class has been cancelled or changed.

Other notes:

- in the spring the grass is damp, it's chilly and we're in a bit of wind tunnel.

- If the wind isn't blowing, we can sometimes get bugs in June. (I bring thermacells and bug spray for you pups)

- In the summer it's hot. Bring water for you pup and yourself.

- In the fall it can be either chilly or hot.  Dress in layers.

We understand that life is busy.  We ask that you commit to our training schedule when you sign up for class.  

If you cancel 30 days from your course start date:   You'll get a full refund minus a $45 registration fee

If you cancel 14 days or less before your course start date:  We will not give you a refund if we cannot find somebody to fill your space.  If we can find someone to fill your space, you'll get a full refund minus a $45 registration fee.

If Unleash Your Paws has to cancel a course due to circumstances beyond our control (i.e. tornado) then we give you a spot on  another date and location of the same course, or a full credit to use towards any of our other courses.  Unleash Your Paws is not responsible for expenses incurred by students in preparing for a cancelled course.

It is your choice if you would like to miss a class and go on vacation, we will do our best to give you extra homework before you leave or catch you up in the next class.  No refunds or discounts will be offered for this.  

If something comes up that you couldn't have foreseen, please send your instructor an email to discuss options.  For a discounted fee, we can offer a private lesson scheduled at a different time.

Cancellation Policy

Invoicing for training

We offer group and private training lessons.  Private training is $109 for a 1-hour in-person lessons and are invoiced upon booking of the lesson(s) and are to be paid by the end of your first lesson.  Prices for group lessons vary based on the course.  Sign up for group classes in our store and pay either by cash, etransfer or credit card.

Keep in mind that you may only see your trainer for one hour in-person, but  you are paying for their years of knowledge and work done behind the scenes as well.  
When I walk away from a training session, I usually spend the rest of the week thinking about it, deciding what the next steps are, contemplating your goals and how we can reach them, and making sure we're taking into account your dog's emotional, mental, and physical needs.

Where do you walk?

We rent a private 60 acres park in Dunrobin. It's a beautiful spot with fields, forest, and a creek. This is where we walk most frequently.

When we have 4 dogs or less in our group walk we often walk at Bruce Pit or Hampton Park.

In the summer time we have a secret spot for swimming but we can only take small groups there and we need your special permission to go there. Ask us about it during your first consultation.

What time will my dog be picked up?

Our pick up times are between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Depending on the daily schedule, your dog could be picked up anywhere within this time frame.
In the summertime we like to offer early morning walks to stay cool.
In the winter, we often push back our walks to mid-day to stay warm.

Where is our pickup zone?

NEW as of Sept 2022!

Our dog walk and puppy visit pick up zone is Kanata North.  It consists of west of Six Line Rd.,  east of Terry Fox Dr., north of the 417,  and south of Kinburn Side Rd.

We are growing our team to open up more pick up zones.  Contact us if you want to be a dog walker.

My schedule varies. Can I add a walk last minute?

Yes, but we cannot guarantee space on the date that you need. The earlier you request a walk the more likely you are to get the date that you need. Of course there is no harm in asking the day of, as long as you do so before 6:00 a.m. in the summer time and 8:30 a.m. in the winter.

Invoicing walks and payment options

Your invoice will be e-mailed to you on the last day of the month. This allows us to easily add a walk, cancel a walk, or schedule a training session when you need to. You will be asked to pay your invoice within 15 days. Payments can be made by cash, cheque, or e-mail transfer. Exact details can be found on your invoice.
